Running Macosx on my standard PC

osx86I have a PC at home that I don’t use very often, my Macbook is my main computer. A few months ago I got tired of Windows XP on my PC and installed Ubuntu Linux 9.04. A lot of people claim that Linux is a great alternative to Windows and Macosx, I really disagree. I won’t explain why ;)

Anyway, I erased Ubuntu and installed Windows Vista. Seemed stable at first, until I was trying copy a 7GB file from my Macbook over my LAN, Vista just couldn’t manage to complete the transfer! I tried to find out what the problem was, without any luck…

So I downloaded a hacked version of Macosx 10.5.7 (osx86) and it installed it on my PC, it works like a charm! (keeping my fingers crossed…)

I used the iATKOS v7 distro (I won’t post any links to it, Google will do the trick…)

First of all I formatted my HDD and selected my first primary partition as the destination for osx86.
One you have selected which drive to install to you choose “customize” to select which drivers to use.

I have the following hardware setup:

Motherbord: Asus P5LD2-VM SE
CPU: Core 2 Duo E6400 2.16 GHz
GPU: Nvidia Geforce 8800 GT 320 MB
RAM: 4GB
HDD: 320GB SATA

These are the drivers/packages I used for my install:

• Main system
• Chameleon V2
• Appledecrypt
• smbiosenabler
• Voodoo kernel 9.7
• Disabler
• OHR
• Graphic driver - Nvidia Natit
• AHCI
• intelSATA
• Speedstep
• Throttling control
• Voodoohda
• Network driver: Intel Gigabit
• Post install actions

This is not the best explanation, but once you boot up the iATKOS v7 install DVD you will understand what I’m talking about (hopefully ;)
